This midtown Manhattan private family residence was in need of a redesign to better showcase the owner’s collection of exquisite art and worldly artifacts. With windows spanning the entire 3BR/6BA home, and views reaching well above the rooftops overlooking the East River, we set to work to create a warm and inviting backdrop for the art collection. Art was repurposed throughout and walls were repainted, wallpapered and rebuilt to alter the space and add layers to the existing richness. We installed hardwood floors, a wall of antique mirrors, new dramatic light fixtures, reupholstered existing furniture, and had a blast purchasing new collectibles with the owners. A few elements of playfulness help to lighten each room, from the addition of our own Swick Board sound system in the living area, to pops of color and patterns throughout. We really let our creativity run wild in the kids areas, pairing objects of science and discovery with wall treatments straight out of a imaginary fairytale. The result? 360 degrees of living, breathing art.
