Obsidian - Moon House

It was truly an honor for Cristina and General to be among 23 creators and makers to collaborate in the inaugural Obsidian by BADG (Black Artists and Designers Guild). It was a creative expression of black family life, shared dreams, and ancestral features in the form of a house.

Cristina and General developed the Moon House specifically to embody the elders of the multi-generation family, all dwelling harmoniously throughout Obsidian. Our goal was to weave the past into the future—utilizing materials, textures, and patterns to evoke rest, wellness, and reflection. We designed an innovative space that incorporates a medicinal herbal garden with native wildflowers. The kitchen will be equipped for harvesting and storing the herbs during winter months to be used as natural remedies for the occasional home birth and to promote physical and mental wellness.
